PAVLO
Sunday, NoV. 16, 2008 | 2:30 pm | MHS Auditorium

Pavlo is a composer, a guitarist, a singer and a recording artist. He composes in a style of music best described as “Mediterranean music,” a music that combines influences of Flamenco, Latin, Classical and Mediterranean guitar mixed together with the Greek Bouzouki. Recently, Pavlo has branched out to sing several songs on his latest album, Irresistible. “It was a natural progression to compose music that combined my childhood studies of Flamenco/Latin Guitar with my love for Greek music and European music in general,” commented Pavlo.
Pavlo has seven albums -- Pavlo, Fantasia, I Feel Love Again, Frostbite Music for the Holidays, Mediterranean Lounge, and Irresistible.
Fantasia was nominated for “Best Instrumental Album of the Year” at the 2000 Juno Awards in Canada (Canada’s equivalent to the Grammy’s), and in 2004, Pavlo won the category for " World Artist of the Year" at the Canadian Independant Music Awards. Pavlo and Fantasia have received Gold certifications in Canada by the Canadian Recording Industry Association. On April 30, 2001, Pavlo was selected to perform for His Royal Highness, Prince Charles.
Pavlo wrote music that has been included in two episodes of the Chris Isaak Show, the movie Marine Life, starring Cybil Shepherd, CTV's Eleventh Hour, and L.A.'s L Word, to name a few. Also, Pavlo's music has been featured on more than a dozen CD compilations around the world. In addition, Pavlo was commissioned to compose a work for Canada’s First Lady of the Guitar, Liona Boyd, where Pavlo is featured along side such artists as Al Di Meola, Strunz & Farrah and Steve Morse.
Pavlo and his band perform more than 150 concerts a year!
